Midnight and we're wasted!

Here's a lovely video Trish took at midnight when the entire wait staff at Colicchio's (see previous entry for the mouth-watering dinner details) paraded into the dining room banging on pots and pans.  Quite an exciting beginning for 2012.  Notice Trish's expert camera work.  If you keep watching, she does eventually get us both in the frame, right-side-up.  Enjoy!

New Year's dinner debouchery

Double fisting the champagne at Colicchios
Our Texan brother, Gerry, decided to forsake Trish and I for the wilds of Jersey, so we were left to fend for ourselves this New Years.  Since we didn't want to mingle with the unwashed hordes in Times Square or with the wasted party animals at any one of the many hotel and bar parties across the city, we decided to make a return visit to Colicchio & Sons (or Colickmee-ohs, as we lovingly refer to it), where we spent New Year's last year.  I've been saving my pennies all this fall so we could partake of their special seven-course tasting menu.

Oh no she dih-ent.  Sequined
leggings & cross strap flats - eek!
Unfortunately, we still had to fraternize with the crowds on the subway on our way to dinner.  Throughout our journey to the far west side, I was left dumbfounded by the general lack of taste we supposedly fashion forward New Yorkers possess.  Since when is a sequined mini-skirts, whore heels and puff coat considered fashionable?  I guess I'm just old-fashioned.  The photo to the left shows yet another unfortunate fashion choice I managed to covertly photograph (through her boyfriends legs no less!).

Just to invoke jealousy and hatred amongst all you foodies, here's the drool-worthy menu from our New Year's bacchanal.  And to add insult to injury, I've also added our selections from the optional champagne-pairing menu.
